For the past couple years this family was seemingly cursed with their sessions being clouded by Colorado wildfires. Sunrise or sunset, we were battling dark and dull light, or a funky orange glow. As a photographer, my heart ached. For whatever reason, a clear Colorado day was just not in the cards for these guys. However, I think we must have paid our dues and earned ourselves a spot on the roster for one of those elite summer evenings this year because this session was something straight out of The Sound of Music.

This year we decided to go back to where Sarah and Neil got married. They wanted mountains, and what better place for that than at the base of the Sangres at Music Meadows Ranch. We shot on a bluebird afternoon with no wind, just the right amount of clouds and finished things off with the dreamiest golden hour. And although clover is an invasive weed, it sure did make for the prettiest sea of little purple flowers. Each and every time I scroll back through these images, I’m speechless. They don’t even seem real, it was such a perfect evening.
